Compared with traditional cast iron pipes, galvanized steel pipes, and cement pipes, PPR pipes offer numerous advantages, including energy and material savings, environmental friendliness, lightweight yet high strength, corrosion resistance, smooth inner walls that prevent scaling, ease of construction and maintenance, and long service life. They are widely used in building water supply and drainage, urban and rural water supply and drainage, urban gas supply, power and fiber optic cable sheathing, industrial fluid transportation, and agricultural irrigation, among other applications in the construction, municipal, industrial, and agricultural sectors.
In recent years, with the increasing market demand from the construction, municipal engineering, water conservancy, agriculture, and industry sectors, China's PPR pipe industry has experienced rapid growth. In 2009, the production volume of plastic pipes reached 5.804 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 18.9%. From January to September 2010, the production volume reached 5.528 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 28.23%. Meanwhile, as consumers' demands for environmental protection, health, and durability in products continue to rise, my country's plastic pipe industry has seen both increased production and improved product quality. Technological progress within the industry has accelerated, the number of large-scale brand enterprises has grown, new materials and structural varieties have emerged, advanced system design concepts have proliferated, and product functionality has become more pronounced, with applications expanding further. Analysis suggests that in 2013, the market share of plastic pipes in China exceeded 30% of all pipe types.
By 2015, in all new, renovated, and expanded projects nationwide, 85% of building drainage pipes, 80% of building rainwater drainage pipes, 50% of urban drainage pipes, 85% of building water supply, hot water supply, and heating pipes, 80% of urban water supply pipes (DN400mm and below), 90% of rural water supply pipes, 40% of urban gas pipes (medium and low pressure), and 90% of building electrical wiring conduits were made of plastic. It is predicted that during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, my country's plastic pipe production will maintain a growth rate of about 10%. By 2015, the national plastic pipe production is expected to reach nearly 12 million tons, and the market share of plastic pipes among all types of pipes in the country will exceed 60%.
