PERT pipe, or heat-resistant polyethylene pipe, is a type of pipe made from a special polyethylene material. It possesses excellent heat resistance, pressure resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance, and is widely used in building hot and cold water supply, underfloor heating systems, and industrial pipelines. As connecting components in a piping system, the connection method of pipe fittings is crucial to the stability and safety of the entire system.

PERT pipe fittings can be connected in various ways, commonly including hot-melt butt welding, electrofusion butt welding, and mechanical connections. Hot-melt butt welding involves heating the ends of the fitting and pipe until they melt, then rapidly joining them and allowing them to cool and solidify. This method offers high connection strength and good sealing, and is suitable for connecting PERT pipes of the same material and specifications. Electrofusion butt welding utilizes the heating element within the fitting to melt and fuse the contact surfaces of the fitting and pipe together, forming a strong connection. Mechanical connections use threads, clamps, or other mechanical methods to connect the fitting and pipe. This method is easy to install, but its sealing and connection strength may be slightly inferior to hot-melt and electrofusion butt welding.

In practical applications, the choice of connection method depends on the specific needs of the piping system, construction conditions, and the material and specifications of the pipes and fittings. For example, mechanical connections may be more suitable for applications requiring rapid installation or frequent disassembly; while thermofusion or electrofusion butt welding is more reliable for applications demanding high sealing and connection strength.

Furthermore, the following points should be noted when butt welding PERT pipe fittings: First, ensure that the end faces of the fittings and pipes are flat, clean, and free of oil, impurities, etc.; second, select appropriate butt welding temperature and pressure based on the material and specifications of the fittings and pipes; third, maintain stable pressure and temperature during the butt welding process to avoid defects such as bubbles and cracks; fourth, conduct necessary inspections and tests after butt welding to ensure that the connection quality meets standard requirements.

With the continuous development of piping system technology, PERT pipe fitting butt welding technology is also constantly improving. Many intelligent butt welding devices and tools are now available on the market, which can greatly improve butt welding efficiency and connection quality. At the same time, new pipe fitting materials and designs are constantly emerging, providing more choices and possibilities for the application of PERT pipe piping systems.
